
Andrea Freeman, MS, has nearly 30 years of experience working with local, regional, and statewide nonprofits and agencies in Massachusetts and nationally. As an advocate for better public policies and a network-weaver to build power, she is committed to further bending the arc toward justice. She leads PHIWM’s advocacy efforts for its state-level policy priorities and collaborates with local coalitions to focus their advocacy on their priorities. Before joining PHIWM, Andrea was the Field Director for the Massachusetts Public Health Alliance (MPHA); she directed training and outreach programs for The Trustees (MA); and led several national land trust rallies for the Land Trust Alliance (DC). Before moving to Western MA, Andrea was an active board member/officer with Growing Places, the Twin Cities Rail Trail Association, and the Leominster Democratic City Committee in North Central MA. Currently, she serves on the board of Transportation for Massachusetts. Andrea studied in Kenya and Russia while earning a bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and economics from St. Lawrence University (NY) and a master’s degree in Natural Resource Policy & Planning from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her family roots are in the Finger Lakes of Western New York but now home is in the 413 with her husband Tim, and their most curious dog, Ella.
