
Dr. Tyonne Hinson is a seasoned healthcare executive and public health leader with more than 20 years of experience advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and health equity across complex healthcare systems. Her work has focused on building diverse and inclusive workforces, reducing health disparities, and advancing equitable care delivery and community health outcomes.
Dr. Hinson has held senior leadership roles across clinical, administrative, and academic healthcare settings. Most recently, she served as Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer at Baystate Health, where she led enterprise-wide strategies to embed equity into organizational culture, workforce development, and patient care. In this role, she advanced initiatives aimed at eliminating disparities in health outcomes, strengthening community partnerships, and fostering environments where caregivers experience belonging, dignity, and respect.
Earlier in her career, Dr. Hinson served as Senior Director of Nursing Diversity Initiatives at Boston Children’s Hospital, where she led diversity and inclusion strategies supporting more than 6,000 nurses and interprofessional staff. Her work included advancing workforce recruitment, retention, mentorship, and professional development, while strengthening the organization’s overall health equity portfolio. She also previously served as a nurse manager in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Baystate Health and senior director of Neonatal Nursing Services and Garbose Special Delivery Unit at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, reflecting her strong clinical foundation.
Dr. Hinson holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Syracuse University, a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in healthcare administration from Villanova University, and a Doctor of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is board certified as a Nurse Executive (NE-BC) through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
She currently serves as faculty for the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is an emeritus board member of the Villanova University M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing Board of Consultors. She is also a graduate of the Massachusetts General Hospital Disparities Leadership Program.
Dr. Hinson has been nationally recognized for her leadership in health equity, including being named a 2024 Diversity Leader Rising Star by Modern Healthcare and among notable diversity, equity, and inclusion leaders in healthcare by Becker’s Hospital Review.
