
Melvin G. Coleman is an accomplished Assistant Vice President and Branch Manager at Greenfield Savings Bank, where he leads the launch and strategic growth of a new branch in Easthampton, Massachusetts. With over 15 years of leadership experience across banking, lending, retail operations, and staff development, Melvin is known for building high-performing teams, driving operational excellence, and cultivating strong community relationships.
Throughout his career, Melvin has held senior leadership roles at institutions including PeoplesBank, TD Bank, and Bank of America, where he managed branch operations, developed regional training programs, and led initiatives focused on financial literacy, homeownership, and small business development. His work has consistently centered on empowering individuals and communities through access to financial education and resources.
Melvin brings significant nonprofit governance experience, currently serving on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Springfield and Junior Achievement of Western Massachusetts, as well as contributing to the Development Committee for United Way of Pioneer Valley. In these roles, he has helped guide strategic planning, fundraising, and community engagement efforts that support housing stability, youth development, and economic mobility.
He is also a financial literacy curriculum developer and instructor at Westover Job Corps Center, where he teaches young adults essential skills in banking, credit, saving, and investing—demonstrating his deep commitment to education and long-term community impact.
Born and raised in Western MA, a local pastor, and a community leader and builder, Melvin is passionate about advancing equitable access to resources, strengthening community health outcomes, and serving organizations that create meaningful, lasting change.
Melvin is extroverted and very helpful to boards and community initiatives that he takes part in, as he is very comfortable making presentations, hosting events, asking for backing, building and strengthening teams, and strategizing and seeing plans through to fruition.
