"At Health New England, we are using the Public Health Institute of Western Massachusetts’s Race and Health Equity Resource Guide to inform our internal and external conversations about the work we do every day to deliver on our mission to improve the health and lives of the people in our communities. As a foundation of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee’s Call to Action, we aim to raise awareness in our work and our workplace about health equity and the structural barriers that result in disparate health outcomes, such as structural racism, poverty, sexism, and social determinants of health, including education, employment, housing and social environment. We aim to do better as a health plan and community member, and with tools available to us like the Resource Guide, we can work towards more systemic organizational change together."
