Alisa Ainbinder Presents at APHA's Annual Meeting

November 1, 2024

Senior evaluation manager Alisa Ainbinder joined staff from the National Network of Public Health Institutes at the American Public Health Association's Annual Meeting and Expo in Minneapolis to present  Novel and Emerging Practice Evaluation Studies to Address COVID 19 Health Disparities.

Alisa's presentation highlighted the evaluation of the New York State Department of Health's Bureau of Health Equity and Community Engagement (BHECE) equitable procurement initiative. The BHECE implemented this initiative as part of their CDC grant to reduce COVID-19-related health disparities.

PHIWM developed a new tool, "Promising Practices in Equitable Procurement," to assess the BHECE's approach. This tool, based on peer-reviewed and grey literature, was used to compare BHECE's practices to a standard. Experts from various organizations, including public health institutes, state health departments, consulting organizations doing equitable procurement, and municipal agencies reviewed the tool.
