New Report! Youth Mental Health in Western MA

We are in the midst of a national mental health crisis. Youth in our region are struggling with their mental health, and the pandemic made it worse.


This new report summarizes findings from the 2022 Community Health Needs Assessment for the Coalition of Western Massachusetts Hospitals/Insurer. It combines existing survey data and information from interviews with mental health providers and youth development professionals. 


There are many great things happening in parts of our region to support young people. Together, let's expand these efforts.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health will use survey results to improve programs, guide funding and resource decisions, and support policies that address health inequities. They will also share survey findings with partners across the state to help strengthen their efforts to improve health in their communities. The survey will be open from July 2026 through early Fall 2026. Anyone age 12 or older can participate. It takes about 15 to 30 minutes to complete and is available in 12 languages.
