Thu Pham's commitment to public health includes more than two decades of work with refugees who, like herself, came to Western Massachusetts from Southeast Asia. Her bilingual, leadership and networking skills have helped this population and their families, access care and treatment. A graduate of Graduate of Bard College Clemente Program Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts' Leadership Institute for Political and Public Impact Thu has labored to eliminate racial and structural barriers in health care access. She was among the area women featured for her work in The Republican's 2012 International Women's Day Tribute, and was the 2003 recipient of the Springfield Department of Health and Human Services' Luminary Award. She has been a member of Partners For A Healthier Community Board since March 1997. A member of St. Paul's Parish, recently retired and an avid gardener, Thu and her husband Hugh Reiss live in Springfield, with their dog Happy, and enjoy attending jazz concerts and cultural celebration.
